Welcome to The Cherry On Top's Weekly Menu Planner!

Planning is the way to go.  Using TCOT's weekly menu planner guarantees an exciting array of foods that are healthy, easy to cook, inexpensive AND fast!  What  more could you ask for?!

Let's DIVE into this weeks menu!

Meatless Monday:  corn chowder  (I know there is bacon there.  Leave it out!)

Not into the vegetarian thing?  Then make some clam chowder.  My hubby scoffs at the idea of Meatless Monday.  Boo!  Cutting back on red meats is so much better for your health.

Here's what I have for you:

Awesome, right?!  Just a handful of ingredients which ya might already have around the house and your off to a fantastic, soothing dinner!  Add some bacon if ya gotta have the meat or take it out for a healthier choice.  If ya think it just  might not be enough, bring home some fresh baked bread to go along with it!
Tuesday:  Flex day, meat, starch, veg
We will be having sausages and stump.  I'll hook ya up with the recipe for th…

Weekly Menu #2
Welcome again, to The Cherry On Top's Weekly Menu! I am using Weekly Menu #2, again.  I'm off to vacation and saving some time!

Meatless Monday:  Soup N' Sandwiches (click on the image for the pumpkin soup recipe)

Home made soup is so easy to make.  Wash the veggies that are still sitting in your fridge.  Cut them up in large pieces, throw them in the pot, add some salt, pepper and maybe a touch of veggie bouillon.  (Just watch how salty it is.)

The easy version to buy some pre made soup.  I always have soup in the cabinet!  My grocer sells an awesome organic soup in a bottle.  Just shake, open, pour in a mug, heat and voila!  Mmmm...Check out the ingredients.  Most package soup is pretty darn good especially if there is no meat in it.

Serve up your favourite sandwich or buy a fresh French loaf and just dip!  I strongly recommend getting away from the white bread in a plastic bag with a long shelf life.  Try a bread machine.  It literally takes under 10 minutes to…

Best Bread

Welcome To The Cherry On Top!
I've got a special addition blog today.  I am sharing my most favourite bread recipe.  The best part?  It's a bread machine recipe.  Typically, TCOT does super fast recipes.  This one is really, really easy, but there are a couple of ingredients that take a few extra seconds to prepare.  However!  The ingredients that are timely could be replaced with easier ones or not even used, but don't go fool'n yourself think'n it will taste the same.

So let's get to the recipe!

This a garlic, herb and walnut bread.  Warning!  You might go slightly insane while it's baking because it smells more delicious than anything you have ever smelled.  For real!

I could not find the original version of this recipe on line anywhere.  Rrrr....Jennie Shapter is the author of the book where I got this from.

Here we go!

For a medium loaf:

3/4 milk
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (or any oil really)
4 cups unbleached white bread flour (I've …

Welcome back to The Cherry On Top's Weekly Menu Planner!

Have you been planning your meals?  Once you get into the habit of planning and making a good grocery list, you'll see the many benefits of doing so.  Save time money and hassle by checking out The Cherry or some other sites.  I put it all together for you.  Still considering making shopping lists for each menu, but that's gonna be a huge time suck.  We'll see...

OK!  Let's jump right into it, then?!

Meatless Monday:  10 minute spinach lasagna

I think it is totally possible to whip up this baby in 10 minutes!  If ya gotta have your meat, lay a few strips of thinly sliced ham on your layers.  Perfect!

Tuesday:  creamy chicken and rice
This one is just great.  Might be something the kids would really enjoy, too.  It's  versatile as well.  You could easily add some other veggies or change around the cheese you use.  Parmesan is really expensive.  I bet that mix of cheese or cheddar would be awesome, too!
